Treatment Information

As we grow older, our skin naturally produces less collagen and elastin, eventually losing its strength and tightness, resulting in sagging skin around the face, neck and body.

HIFU, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-invasive treatment that can be used for skin tightening, lifting, and body contouring. It works by targeting deep layers of the skin and stimulating the production of collagen, which helps to improve the skin's elasticity and firmness.

ULFIT 9mm and 13mm cartridges are used for the body, here HIFU energy is used to target the fat layer and destroy fat cells. HIFU is ideal for body contouring post pregnancy tummy, abdomen fat, bingo wings, thighs and under the buttocks for a non-surgical bum lifting effect. It can even tighten the skin on the knees and arms, helping to improve the ‘crepey’ look. HIFU is a very effective treatment for both inch loss and fat loss – at the same time tightening the skin.

How does HIFU work

The HIFU machine uses focused ultrasound energy to target specific depths of tissue in the body. It targets the upper dermis at 1.5mm, the lower dermis at 3.00mm, and the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) at 4.5mm. The SMAS is the layer of tissue that sits between the muscle and fat in the face, and it is typically pulled and tightened during a surgical facelift. By targeting this layer with HIFU, patients can achieve similar results without any of the risks associated with surgery, such as infection, scarring, or swelling or downtime.
This allows patients to achieve similar results to a surgical facelift.

The Science Behind It

HIFU precisely delivers targeted, fractional heat at 65-80 degrees to the target area. Not only does this contract the deep SMAS layer to help lift the skin, but it also boosts production of strong, new collagen fibres and reinvigorates dormant collagen, for plump, tight and lifted skin that starts way beneath the surface.
Additionally it can also treat the dermis and epidermis to give comprehensive skin tightening throughout all the layers of the skin and surrounding tissue. It is this multi layer tightening that lends the name non-surgical face lift.

What happens during the treatment?

An ultrasound gel is placed on the treatment area where short pulses of energy are introduced. These ultrasound waves travel deep into the skin and heat up cells, forcing the body to repair them. In doing so, collagen production increases and skin is rejuvenated over the following months.
Depending on your particular skin concern, it may be necessary to go over the same area more than once. This is to ensure the ultrasound waves penetrate at different depths. Note that these waves work deep in the skin and leave the surface layer untouched.

The Dual HIFU machine offers faster shot speeds and shorter intervals between each shot, making it a comfortable treatment option for patients. Many people describe the sensation as feeling like tiny electric pulses or a prickly sensation, but it is generally tolerable and may vary depending on the area being treated.
HIFU is a good alternative to surgical facelifts or liposuction, which are typically more painful and invasive. This makes it a convenient and effective option for those who want to tighten and lift their skin without the risks and downtime associated with surgery.

Downtime and Results

Treatments with HIFU are fast, and results can be seen immediately in some patients, depending on their skin's level of laxity. Because HIFU is non-invasive, there is no downtime or recovery period required after the treatment. This means that patients can resume their normal activities right away, without any disruptions to their daily lives.
You may feel an immediate tightening effect but this increases over time as collagen production is up-regulated over the coming months. Most patients notice a difference after three to six months, with results lasting for up to 18 months.

*Disclaimer: 1 to 3 sessions are recommended to achieve results. We are all individuals, therefore, results from treatments may vary from person to person, because each person responds differently. Results achieved from the HIFU treatment will last a different amount of time from person to person, this may even vary between treatments for an individual. Patient experience, results, downtime and recovery following HIFU treatment will vary from patient to patient. The information we provide is based on the extensive experience we have gained from treating a wide variety of patients of different ages, genders and is based on an average patient experience
